[Video] Sustainable Salons: How StoreConnect Enables Impact & Scale Natively

November 21, 2025

“Store Connect for us has been an incredible enabler allowing us to go from different territories, different currencies, and we know it’ll be there as we continue to scale.”

I’m Anuj, the innovation lead here at Sustainable Salons, and I get to come to work to make impact every day by diverting materials from landfill and making sure they go to the circular economy.

Welcome to our Sydney depot, where we make every salon experience sustainable. Here are just some of our bales and some of our bags that we handle. Each of these bales is 180 kilos, which I think is about 1,200 heads of foil.

All of the profits from the sale of aluminium or paper, all gets donated to OzHarvest and KiwiHarvest to make meals for those in need.

The only way that we can actually give back, make the impact that we need to make is to be efficient in our operations. Part of that is around having really great technology at our disposal, making sure that we can scale really well and so that we can serve as many members as we possibly can across Australia and New Zealand.

3 million kilos of material is coming out of just the salon industry every single year and going to landfill. We’re here to fix that problem.

You can actually see that it’s all done by hand here. People like Jess, people like Antonio who are actually going through every single one of your bags. Normal residential recycling gets about 10-15% recycling rates. We hit 95% across hair, metals, paper, plastics, and all of the good stuff that we take.

And also, of course, one of our biggest materials, it’s hair. But you can see all of these ones are just hair bags, and we need a lot of it. We want to turn hair into a resource of the future.

The interesting part about Sustainable Salons is that we’re not just recycling, but because we do people, planet, and profit, we want to make sure that we’re your sustainability partner.

We have gone through a lot of different technology platforms. We uh ended up with Salesforce because what we wanted was a scalable platform for years. In fact, we had Salesforce over here and then we had an e-commerce platform over here and all of them had different logins and all of it was separate data. So, we couldn’t actually like consolidate it and actually make patterns and understand our customer as well as we wanted.

So, one of the reasons we went with Store Connect was because of that native integration inside Salesforce. It meant we got to have a 360-degree view of our customer. We started to understand what was their buying behavior when it came to maintaining all of their salon essentials and actually allows us to serve them better with the right products that they need at any one time.

We needed a platform that allowed us to work across different territories, Australia and New Zealand, different customer types depending on what size you are. And we also needed a platform that does cash and points as well.

If you’re one of those organisations that has that complexity and you don’t want to shift how the organisation needs to work, but you want your technology to work for you, Store Connect is probably one of your best options.
